Conversation practice at your level

This isn’t a traditional course where you work through a new grammar chapter every week. The focus is on using the German you already know, finding the words you need and feeling more comfortable speaking with other people.

A2–B1: More guidance when you need it

Conversation prompts and support from your teacher help you join in, even when you need a moment to find the right words.

B2–C1: More room to discuss

Share opinions, explain your ideas and practise keeping a conversation going, on familiar and new topics.

How a session works

You join your teacher and other learners live on Zoom. Together you explore a topic, ask questions and have a real conversation. Your teacher adapts the discussion to the group’s level.

Each session lasts 90 minutes. You meet once a week and book a four-week package.

Frequently asked questions

What is the German Speaking Club?

The German Speaking Club is a live online conversation group for people who want more practice speaking German. Instead of working through a full course syllabus, you spend each session talking about everyday life, work and living in Germany, with guidance from an experienced teacher.

Do I need to speak German fluently to join?

No. The club is for learners from level A2 upwards. If you understand quite a lot of German but still hesitate when you speak, it’s a good place to build confidence through regular conversation.

Which group should I choose for my German level?

There are two level groups: A2–B1, with more guided speaking practice, and B2–C1, with freer discussion. If you’re not sure which one suits you, start with our free placement test.

What happens during a German Speaking Club session?

You meet your teacher and other German learners live on Zoom. The group discusses practical topics, shares opinions and practises speaking in a relaxed, supportive setting. Your teacher helps keep the conversation moving and adapts the activities to the group’s level.

How often does the Speaking Club meet?

Once a week for 90 minutes, which is two teaching units of 45 minutes. You book a four-week package. The available days, times and start dates are shown on this page.

How large are the groups?

Small groups of up to 10 participants, so everyone has a chance to speak.

How much does the German Speaking Club cost?

You book a four-week package with one 90-minute session each week. The current price is shown on this page and again before you complete your booking. There’s no separate registration fee.

Can I join a Speaking Club group after it has started?

Sometimes. It depends on whether there’s a place and the group suits your level. We’ll confirm your first session and the price for the remaining sessions before you book.

Can I change my start date before my group begins?

Yes. You can switch to another available start date free of charge or choose full credit. If you’d rather end your booking and request a refund, the applicable legal and contractual rules apply. We don’t charge a flat cancellation fee.

What happens if my group doesn’t start?

The regular minimum is four participants, although we may decide to run a smaller group. If we cancel because there aren’t enough enrolments, we’ll let you know no later than 48 hours before the planned start, or as soon as the decision is made if you booked later. You’ll receive a full refund, or you can ask for another suitable start date or full credit instead.

What if I miss a session?

Your group meets at its scheduled time. A missed session doesn’t normally entitle you to an individual make-up lesson, and sessions aren’t recorded.
