About DAS Akademie
Languages are our passion.People are our story.
Since 1998, we have been helping people find their voice in a new language. People with different languages, stories and goals. What connects them? Curiosity about something new and the desire to understand and be understood.
We are DAS Akademie, the Deutsche Akademie für Sprachen: a Berlin-based international language school offering live online language courses, with decades of experience and a passion for finding new ways to make learning work.
We make you speak.
For us, that is more than a line. We want people not only to learn a new language, but to actually use it with confidence, enjoyment and the courage to speak.
OUR STORY
Since 1998.
Still curious.
Languages change. The world changes. And we keep evolving with it.
Over almost three decades, we have taught learners from more than 60 countries, worked on international education projects and explored new ways of learning languages.
Our experience ranges from traditional language teaching and work with children and young people to the development of our own digital learning environments.
We teach live online, personally and interactively, with the experience of all those years behind us.
Berlin is our home. Our classrooms have no city limits.

This sentence has been part of DAS Akademie for decades.
Behind it is a simple idea: when you understand and speak another language, you can reach out to people, start conversations, discover what you have in common and build friendships.
Sometimes it all begins with a simple “Hello”. A conversation becomes a connection. And a connection can become a friendship that lasts a lifetime.
That is why we want people not only to learn a language, but to understand it, speak it with confidence and use it in real life.
Because every friendship starts with a conversation.
BEHIND THE SCENES
More than language lessons.
We see language and education as part of something bigger. People do not learn only through explanations and exercises, but also through encounters, shared experiences and discoveries of their own.
That idea has shaped our work for many years.
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION
Education knows no borders.
International collaboration has long been part of the story of DAS Akademie.
Through education projects and our work with schools and teachers, we have come to know very different learning environments. We have exchanged experiences and developed ideas of our own.
Again and again, we see how closely language, culture and education are connected. Learning a new language often opens up new perspectives on the world and on yourself.
SUMMER AND WINTER LANGUAGE CAMPS
Laugh first. Learn along the way.
Summer and winter language camps have been part of our work with children and young people since 1998.
Here, language is not only taught. It is lived. Through learning together, playing, exploring and all the small adventures that make a language camp unforgettable.
Children and young people from different countries come together, get to know one another and grow closer day by day.
By the end of a camp, many individuals have become one big family.
And the best part is that some of those friendships continue across borders and even across decades.
Those are the stories that mean the most to us.
DIGITAL PIONEERING
Shaping digital language learning from the beginning.
Long before digital language teaching became part of everyday life, we were already exploring new ways of learning.
In 2002, we created the DAS Club, our own digital learning programme for learners. In 2007, MintiCity followed, our interactive teaching and learning platform for German as a foreign and second language.
With games, stories, learning videos and interactive exercises, MintiCity gives children and young people a playful way into German. It also supports teachers in their lessons.
The platform is used by schools around the world and represents an idea that still guides our work today:
